Mr. Berry Bagwell, at 7 a.m. yesterday at his residence five miles south of Raleigh, in the 91st year of his age. The funeral will take place at his residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Mr. Bagwell leaves a large number of descendants to mourn their loss. There are 225 grandchildren and great-grandchildren living.

He was for fifty-two years a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptists church, and was ever highly esteemed and greatly respected. He was one of the best known citizens of Wake and had for many years held an honored position in the church.

Bagwell and his wife, Sarah "Sally" Mainor.

He was the paternal grandson of Daniel Bagwell of Brunswick County, VA and his Dublin-born wife, Elizabeth Johnson, who came to Halifax County, NC ca. 1750; and later to Wake County around 1770. He was the gr-grandson of the family's patriarch, Emanuel Bagwell. born 1705 in Dublin, Ireland who immigrated to the Colonies and was known to be in Brunswick County, VA by 1720.

Littleberry married Mary Clara Walker on April 20, 1816, when he was 28 years old, and she 22.

The couple farmed in the St. Mary's (Auburn) area of Wake County and were parents to 6 known children (5 boys/1 girl): William D. (c. 1817), Green Berry (1818-1893), Mary Willie (1820-1855), Andrew Jackson "Jack" (1822-1904), Mason (c. 1830) and Needham Bryant Bagwell (1832-1903).

Mary Clara died sometime after 1860, and Littleberry married (2nd) to Sarah Mitchell or Sarah Bryant, who was 20 years his junior.

Littleberry Bagwell died in 1884, at about age 96.

His second wife, Sarah "Sally", died sometime after 1880. Neither of his wives is buried in the Bagwell cemetery.

His son, Needham Bryant Bagwell, is buried here along with subsequent generations of the family.

Son, Green Berry "G. B." Bagwell is buried at First Baptist in Morrisville, Wake Co.

Daughter, Mary Willie Bagwell, married Cullen Bailey whose descendants are also buried here.
