Howard Baughman, passed away the morning of Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Carey, to Harley A. and Nellie M. (Benjamin) Baughman. He married L. Jean Helfer Feb. 8, 1947, in Ashland, Kentucky.

Howard worked at Fostoria Screw Works, The N.S. Gates and Son, Findlay, and retired in 1983 from Ohio Bell (AT & T) after 33 years as a lineman. Following his retirement, he worked part-

time for 21 years driving cars for Findlay Ford.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Alaska and Calcutta, India unloading cargo ships. He was an Honor Flight participant with his son, Zane, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Howard had a great memory and was able to recount numerous stories and details of a wide variety of subjects. He was a true family man who took pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and always enjoyed family get togethers.

He is survived by two sons, Zane (Jane) of Troy and Kyle (Patti) Baughman of rural Fostoria; a daughter, Lynette (Ron) Conine of rural Fostoria, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife; parents; brother, Glen Baughman; and sister, Reva (William) Tong.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to Howard’s home caregivers as well as the staff of Bridge Hospice for the care and compassion shown to him.

Private graveside services will be Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, at Zion Bloom Cemetery, Vanlue, with Pastor Erma Metzger officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arcadia United Methodist Church, 19397 CR 216, Arcadia, OH 44804, the Flag City Honor Flight, P.O. Box 885, Findlay, OH 45839 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
