Major League Baseball Player. For seven seasons (1955, 1957 to 1961 and 1963), he played at the first base position with the Washington Senators, Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins. Signed as an amateur free agent by the Washington Senators, he made his Major League debut on September 13, 1955 and played in ten games that season. In 1960, he produced a career high 75 hits as he split playing time at first base with Harm Killebrew. He was selected by the Los Angeles Angeles during the 1961 MLB Expansion Draft and played briefly for them before being released. He was signed by the Twins during their first season in Minnesota following the franchise's relocation from Washington. Becquer will perhaps be remembered for hitting a pinch walk-off grand slam against the Chicago White Sox on July 4, 1961. In 488 career regular season games, he compiled 238 hits with a .244 lifetime batting average. After retiring from baseball. he worked in the men's clothing department for Dayton's Department Store in Minneapolis.
