Franklin Moser was a member of the Pennsylvania 76th Zouaves Company K that advanced on Fort Wagner in the 1st Battle on July 11th. He suffered wounds and died and was initially buried in a trench outside the Fort. The 2nd attack was what was shown in the movie "Glory" and again Union dead were thrown into trenches. The Fort was abandoned due to contamination of the water supply. The bodies were eventually reburied in Beaufort National Cemetery, as late as 2000. Moser' body was probably identified by the colorful Zouave uniform and buried in the Pennsylvania section. He was survived by his wife and two children . Catherine his wife, remarried Edward Carl who also served with Pennsylvania' 50th.
