Craig Dallas "Dobby" May, 92, of Elon, NC, passed away on January 27, 2015, at Hospice Home of Alamance County.

A native of Alamance County; husband of Betty Swink May for 40 years; son of the late Commie Luther and Mable Craig May.

After high school, Dobby spent a few months working in Washington, DC; joined the "Army Air Corps" in 1942; went to Air Gunner School, Armament School, Pilot Training School, and ended up as a bombardier. After World War II ended, he served as a Tactical Training Officer at Lackland Basic Training in San Antonio, TX, and was discharged in 1946.

A former member of The Burlington Civil Air Patrol, the Graham Rotary Club, Graham Jaycees, Graham Toastmasters Club, and the Gideons.

A member of the First United Methodist Church in Graham, a member of both the Chancel and Senior Choirs, served as Chairman of the Official Board, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Counselor.

Employed by Western Electric and Industrial Supply based out of Clinton, SC, before beginning his own company, Craig Specialty Company in 1974, selling industrial supplies.

Retired in 1990; he and Betty enjoyed the mountains and spent many extended summers in their vacation home on the Watauga River in Valle Crucis, NC. He was proud of his service in the military and fondly enjoyed discussing those years. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed raising a big garden and sharing his produce with others. He loved the Lord and strived to live his testimony before others.

Survivors include his son, Dean Vaughn (Valerie); daughter, Michele Vaughn Lowe (Jack); son-in-law, Mike Massengill; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Lee Shoffner May; two daughters, Jo Ellen May Massengill and infant daughter, Pamela Christine May; brother, C.L. May and wife, Ann; sister, LaVerne May Lindley and husband, "Shag".

Memorial service held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Graham, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Baker.

The family received friends from Noon to 1:00 PM in the church parlor prior to the memorial service
