Born in Brooklyn, New York on December 13, 1934, Al was an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life serving God, country, family and anyone in need of services he could offer. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he returned to his bride-to-be, Rose Galante. They married on Oct 27, 1957 and made their home in Brooklyn. Al worked in Manhattan for Chemical Bank until his retirement. During retirement Al filled his time with many post-retirement business ventures and learning how to enjoy a simpler life in the Poconos of Pennsylvania.

The most rewarding of his life-long achievements was serving God and people through various ministries. Al served as Worship Leader in his church and Youth Director locally and regionally for the Christian Churches of North America during his time in NY. He also began a prison ministry, bringing the Word of God to inmates at the Rikers Island Detention Center in New York City. Al continued his ministry through his kind and compassionate response to anyone in need. The last hours of his life were spent handing out his worship CD to staff at the hospital. Al’s faith never waivered.

Al was preceded in death by his parents John and Catherine Cannata, sisters Jenny (Frank) Solomone and Santa (Joe) Crivelli and one niece..
