June 12, 1954 - October 20, 2020
US Navy veteran
Glen E. Carter passed away in the ICU at Davis Sutter Hospital in Davis while fighting lung cancer since June 2020. The burial will be held with family only, at a later date.
Glen was born on June 12, 1954, to Dorothy M. Carter and Ralph F. Carter in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Glen and his other siblings - John, Jo Anne, Linda, and Ralph - were all raised in Kansas. He graduated high school in Kansas where he met and married his first wife, Janie, shortly after he joined the Navy where he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Alameda California. He served in the Navy for four years and decided to stay and make his home in California. Here he met and married his second and present wife, Jean.
He later went to work for the Oakland Army Base as a civil service employee. When the Government shut down Oakland Army Base, he accepted a transfer to Ft. Eustis Virginia as a civil service employee, where he worked for ten years until he retired. Soon after, Glen and Jean sold their home and returned to Vacaville, California, so they could be close to their family once again.
Some of Glen’s hobbies were playing guitars and loving his fur-babies; Cinnamon and PJ were two of his favorites.
Glen is survived by Jean, his wife of 36 years; son Glenn E. Carter, Missouri; stepson Wil Vernon ( Lisa), California; stepdaughter Cynthia Miner(David), California; brother Ralph Carter, Kansas; grandchildren Riley Kemper, Arizona, Isabelle Carter, Missouri, Jennifer Gustafson, Tennessee, and Garrett Miner, California; great-grandchildren: Kaibia Kemper, Arizona, Kylie, Mikaiah, and Brooklyn Gustafson, Tennessee, Olive and Rhett Miner, California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Glen is also survived by his fur-baby Coco.
Glen loved all his family and loved being with them as much as he could. His family meant everything to him. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it or wanted it. He was always a very giving person and was liked by everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
