Mary Margaret Whitt Sifford, 94, a resident of Lubbock for 74 years, departed this life on October 22, 2020. She will be laid to rest at Arledge Ridge Cemetery next to her husband in Bonham, Texas at a later date.

Margaret was born on February 19, 1926 to Lawrence Elmer Whitt and Lula Mae Gray in Fannin County, Texas. She was a graduate of Bailey High School. She was united in marriage to Roy Dean Sifford on September 4, 1946 in Durant, Oklahoma. To this union three children were born. They were married for 54 years when Roy Dean preceded her in death on March 31, 2001.

She was a member of Monterey Baptist Church. She was a long-time member of the Eastern Star and worked with the Rainbow Girls for over 25 years. She volunteered with the Friends of the Library and enjoyed her daily visits from her friends at Meals on Wheels each of which were promptly given a nickname. Margaret was a loving housewife who took care of her husband and children. She cherished the times spent with her family and many friends. She enjoyed genealogy and loved to learn more about her heritage.

Margaret will be remembered as a loving mother, Grandma, Gigi, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence Elmer Whitt and Lula Mae Gray Whitt, a daughter, Margaret Deane Doyle; her two sisters: Rena Mae Bennett, and Edith "Edie" Reed.

Margaret is survived by her children: Nancy Alana and husband, Don, of Granbury, Texas and David Sifford of Lubbock. She was lovingly known as "Grandma" or "Gigi" to her grandchildren: James Nelson Range III, Lisa Rodefer and husband, Tom, Melissa Lewis and husband, Thomas, Kelly Alana, John Alana, Kristina Isbell and husband, Josh, April Meadows, and Brian Sifford. Margaret was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Rosewood and Beyond Faith Hospice. Thank you to the wonderful nurses, Donetta Walker and Jodi Ellibee, for their love and care of Margaret.

The family would also like to thank Michelle McFerrin and Shawn Hughes for their love, care, and attention to Margaret.

To honor Margaret's life the family requests anyone to do an act of kindness for someone else and if desired memorials may be made to:
