Rev. Murphy was a native of Calhoun County, born in Anniston, Alabama on October 12, 1949. He was raised in a Christian home where he grew to love the Lord with all his heart. As a devoted minister of the gospel, Rev. Murphy preached in various churches throughout his ministry to include Mamre Baptist Church, Noah Baptist Church, and New Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Murphy was also retired from the Anniston Fire Department and drove a dump truck for many years for S&G Trucking. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, which is one hobby he had throughout his lifetime. Rev. Murphy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He put God first in all he did and never wavered to provide for his family in every way possible. Rev. Murphy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him and will always be remembered for the many lives he touched.
