Essie B. Greer
February 26, 1941 - October 2, 2020

Essie B. Greer, 79, resident of Wilson City, Missouri died October 2, 2020 at the Charleston Manor Skilled Nursing Facility in Charleston, Missouri. She was born February 26, 1941 in Bird's Point, Missouri to the late Zingo and Roberta Branch Sloan.

Essie was a special woman who proudly proclaimed that she was saved and believed in the word of God. She enjoyed attending Ollie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson City, Missouri where served on the Mother's Board and as an Usher.

Essie was devoted to her husband, Freddie Greer. They had been together for over 25 years. It was her heart's desire to live to see her husband saved. Not only did she live to see that, but she lived to see him become a deacon. She wanted to leave her husband in God's hands and God so granted it.

She loved being around her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Essie loved her children and was very proud of them. She always told them to "Be Nice." She was full of laughter, and her family can rest knowing she loved them dearly.

Essie found great joy in singing and fishing. She enjoyed cooking, but being generous and feeding others brought her the most pleasure. She would often cook and share with the entire neighborhood. She had a very kind heart and was known for her hospitality.

That loving, caring, and giving spirit extended to animals. She truly loved animals, and would find herself feeding all the stray ones. At one time, Essie and her husband had 13 dogs.

She will be missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Terrance Rowe, one daughter, Teresa Williams, four brothers, Osea Sloan, Carl Sloan, Robert Sloan, and Cassell Ross, and six sisters, Lillian Bankhead, Opheila Locust, Mary House, Alberta Sloan, Roberta Sloan, and Laura Davis.

She is survived by her loving husband, Freddie Greer of the home, one son, LuWayne Rowe of Wilson City, Missouri, two daughters, Sherry Rowe and Sheila Rowe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, five brothers, Frank (Martha) Sloan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lindsey Sloan of Wilson City, Missouri, Jimmy Sloan and William Sloan of Sikeston, Missouri, and Larry (Carolyn) Sloan of Cairo, Illinois, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
