Paul was born in Jackson, MS on March 11, 1950, the son of Jimmie “JC” Cecil Brooks and Bertie “Janie” (Jordan) Brooks. As a young boy, Paul was baptized at First Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS.
He was a high school graduate of Raleigh High School and enjoyed playing basketball for the Raleigh Lions. After graduating, Paul worked for Georgia Pacific. He also worked in carpentry with Jimmie Barnett, along with working for Buddy Deese Construction. In 1981, Paul came to Texas to work for George Bishop with GeoSouthern Energy Corp. The rig was called the Triad Drilling Rig, and later was a truck driver for GeoSouthern. Paul retired from GeoSouthern in 2016.
In 1983 Paul married the love of his life, Sarah Dee Mangan, and the couple moved to La Grange, TX. They have been blessed with 37 years of marriage.
Paul loved hunting, fishing, and listening to country music. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jimmie & Janie Brooks; father-in-law, Mike Mangan, and sister-in-law, Gaylynn Mangan.
In an abundance of caution due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures, the recommendations of the Governor and County Judge are that face masks be worn as well as social distancing up to 6 feet apart.
Funeral Services will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St. La Grange, TX 78945 at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020, with Pastor Ellis McKenzie officiating. Burial will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery in San Augustine, TX beginning at 2:00 p.m.
