Betty James, 74 year old Woodward resident, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Woodward surrounded by her family.
Betty Eurlene (Finchum) James was born on July 28, 1946 in Bentonville, Arkansas to Ray Newton and Jessie Eva Lena Bell (Taylor) Finchum. The family lived in Bentonville, Arkansas until 1950 and they then moved to Woodward where she has resided since that time. She was raised on the family farm north of Woodward. Betty graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1964.

She was united in marriage to David Rance James on May 29, 1964 in Woodward, Oklahoma and they were blessed with three children: Kevin, Karen, and Kristy. They made their home in Woodward.

Betty was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and she later attended Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. She loved kids and babies and enjoyed taking care of children for many families in Woodward. Betty enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing and loved collecting family tree information. Her favorite times were being with her family and traveling to see family in Eastern Oklahoma and Missouri. She loved her grandkids and they will miss her dearly. Betty had every animal known to man. She loved taking care of her animals.

She is survived by her husband David James of the home; one son, Kevin James and wife Rhonda; two daughters, Karen James and Kristy James all of Woodward; one granddaughter, Alicia James; four step-grandsons, Douglas Sharp, Phillip Sharp, Ryan Sharp, and Chadd Lohse; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Lena Finchum, in-laws, Robert and Eva James, half brother, Charlie Finchum, brother, Harry and Maybell Finchum, sister Elsie Drennen, sister, Maysil White, brother, Manuel and JoAnn Finchum, Brother Everett Finchum, and sisters that died at birth, Lela Latha Finchum and Lena Maybell Finchum.

Memorial contributions many be made to the WOOF Pet Rescue with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
