Bert Bartlett, 58, a longtime Doniphan community resident, died Monday morning in a Grand Island hospital. Funeral services are pending at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Mr. Bartlett was born Aug. 28, 1877, in Lincoln, Ill., to James and Amanda (Ellis) Bartlett. He was raised in the Lincoln community. On Feb. 18, 193, he married Myrtle Atteberry. They came to Doniphan and settled on a farm northeast of Doniphan. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1953. Mrs. Bartlett died in September of 1955. Mr. Bartlett was a member of the Congregational Church.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Doris Bartlett, several nieces and a sister, Mrs. Earl Castle of Glendale, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, son Clinton, five sisters and three brothers.
