Wanda J. Harrison, age 93, formerly of Fremont, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Carthage, Illinois. She was born on March 26, 1925, in Oak Park, IL, the daugher of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Kramer) Schmidt, On August 7, 1954, Wanda married Russell Harrison in Berkley, IL. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2000. Wanda was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Fremont. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 391 in Fremont, and was a past president. Wanda was very involved in her community, as part of the Fremont Friendly Seniors, delivering Meals on Wheels, former president of the Fremont Historical Society, being a Step Program Helper at the Fremont Elementary School, serving on the Fremont Election Board, and being a part of the Benefit Club and the Improvement Club for many years. She was also very passionate about cats, and cared for them at her home over the years. Wanda is survived by her son, Randy (Sandy), Carthage, IL; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Nancy) Harrison, and their children, Colten, Trenton and Jenna; Jeremy (Josette) Harrison, the their children, Heather and Joseph; Holly (Brian) Turner; and Sherrika Smith-Harrison, and her son, Reyandriz; her nephew, Donald (Phyllis) Gunning and their son, Jonathon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her grandson, Zachary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 11AM at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont. Pastor Jeanne Douglas will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf River Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, at the funeral home from 4-7PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Waupaca Area Humane Society.
