William Louis Klahn age 93, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children, Connie Miller, Sherrie Klahn, William (Sharon) Klahn, Debbie Klahn, Jeffery ( Susan) Klahn, Cathy (Sean) Halle, Laura (Rick) Covault and Kelly (Keith) Williams; 17 grandchildren; numerous greatand great great -grandchildren; brother, Herman (late June) Klahn; bonus daughter, Shirley Wright-Noland; special friends from CPCV, Rosie and Teresa and Pat from North Webster; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Norma Lois Klahn. Bill was born April 10, 1927 in Gary, IN to the late John and Ruth Klahn. He proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII. On July 2, 1949, Bill married the love of his life, Norma Wallace and together they raised 8children. He retired from Budd Company in Gary, IN with 30 years of service. Bill also served at the Lake Hills Fire Dept. as an active member for 38 years serving as Chief for 13 years and still was an honorary member. Bill loved to fish, kicking peoples'ass at horseshoes and dice and cross stitched over 100 baby blankets. Bill was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Papa and friend and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Chaplain Bob Klusca officiating. Bill will be laid to rest privately by the family at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake Hills Fire Dept. 9105 W 85th Avenue Schererville, IN 46375 or to Harbor Light Hospice 1229 Arrowhead Court Crown Point, IN 46307.
