Lou Vernia (Burton) Brock, age 88, of Somerset, KY and formerly of Nancy, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab in Hospice Comfort Care.

Lou was born on July 19, 1932 in Nancy, KY to the late Benjamin Shelvey Burton and Charitie Bell Burton. She was a member of Parkers Mill Road Baptist Church. Lou was a cook in the Pulaski County School System for over 30 years before retiring in December 2000. She loved to quilt and read. Lou especially enjoyed spending time with her family and dearly loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her church family.

She is survived by her children, Darrell Brock of Nancy, Freda (and Daryl) Jasper of Science Hill, Reda (and Creston) Wilson of Somerset, and Terry (and Kim) Brock of Somerset; a daughter-in-law, Sharilene Brock of Nancy; grandchildren, Sheila (and Bruce) Ping of Windsor, Cody Burton of Somerset, and Christopher (and Tiffany) Wilson of Georgetown; great grandchildren, Skyler Luttrell of Lexington, Savana Luttrell of Windsor, and Haley Ping of Lexington; one sister, Rhodia (and Harold) Stevenson of Clarksville, TN.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth Brock, whom she married on July 9, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2004; her siblings, Wilbert Burton, George Davis Burton, Iriadia Brock, Roy Burton, Johnnie Burton, Harold Burton, Edna Johnston, Florence Marie DeCaigny, Gilbert Burton, and Russell Burton; and two infant siblings, Elgie Burton and Mary Burton.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Somerset Nursing Rehab Center and Hospice Comfort Care for the special care that was given to her and her family, and Dr. Patrick Jenkins. She always looked forward to the visits from her family and her Pastor, Bro. Darry Hatfield and family.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Darry Hatfield officiating. Burial will be Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
