William Barnett was the son of David Barnett & Sarah __?__

William Barnett married his first cousin, Elizabeth Barnett, on 3 Mar 1823* in Oglethorpe County, Georgia (per Oglethorpe County, Georgia marriage records). Elizabeth was the daughter of Benjamin Johnson Barnett & Martha "Patsy" Hardman.
*NOTE: Marriage date in family Bible records is 6 Mar 1822 (see below)

NOTE: The death dates on the granite monument for William & Elizabeth appear to be reversed from what is recorded in the family Bible records and original headstones (see below).

This information is from notes left by Sandra Barnett Hood: this cemetery was bulldozed a number of years ago, although the burials remained. At the time the cemetery was being destroyed, the original headstones of William Barnett & his wife Elizabeth Barnett were rescued by Harriet Barnett, who placed the headstones in the trunk of her car, and moved them to Pittman Cemetery (see link to cenotaph below). With permission, Sandra later fenced off the cemetery area here and purchased the large granite marker bearing names of those buried here.

Gravesite Details

This cemetery was bulldozed, although the burials remained. With permission, the cemetery area was later fenced off and the large granite marker added bearing names of those buried here. William's original headstone was moved to Pittman Cemetery.
