Melba Marie Hawkins, 79, of 2050 155th St. died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.

Born March 8, 1919, in Sunbeam to Carl and Bertha Johnson Logsdon, she married Walter L. Hawkins on Feb. 25, 1943, in Cameron. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Robert of Fenton; one brother, Ronald Logsdon of Galesburg; and two sisters, Louise Conard of Lakeland, Fla., and Arlene Tennent of Galesburg. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

She was a cook for Galesburg School District 205 and Camp Shaubena in Galesburg.

She was a member of Coldbrook Christian Church in Cameron, where she was the church school superintendent.

Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.
