Johnny Ray Hardin was born to Joe and Bobbye Hardin in Rotan, Texas, on November 27, 1955. He was welcomed into Heaven by his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2020.

Johnny was a man who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He felt it was one thing to know who Christ is and another thing to accept him as your Savior. He gave his life to the Lord and began to study the Word and to be obedient to the Word. He strived to lead a Christ-like life and tried to live by example in order to show others about Christ. He felt people see better than they hear. He enjoyed attending Bellville United Methodist Church, where he met many people whom he loved. He especially enjoyed his Seekers Sunday School Class, where they openly discussed scriptures. It was known that if you wanted to disagree on a point, you better have scripture to back it up. Johnny was a man who loved the Lord.

Johnny also loved his family with all his heart. After graduating high school in Rotan, he moved to Bellville to work for his Uncle Wes. He met Candi while playing on a mixed league softball team. After a couple of years, Candi asked him to be her senior year homecoming date. That was 43 years ago! Johnny adored Candi and their boys, John Keith, Ty and Marcus. He enjoyed watching them play sports. He was always the first one in the bleachers and the last one to leave. He would then come home and watch them on recorded videos. He was their biggest fan. He also taught them how to work, they were expected to be right by his side no matter what he was doing. If you could work for Johnny Hardin, you could work for anyone. Johnny also felt he could make a difference in other children’s lives. He welcomed many foster children into his home and treated and loved them like his own. Johnny was most proud of all his grandchildren. He loved them dearly and would give them just about anything they wanted, especially the girls. He loved to tease and aggravate the girls when they walked in the door. He would always tell the first one that walked in that she was his favorite, just loud enough for the others to hear. He loved spending time with his grandkids.

Johnny was a man that loved his work and took pride in being the provider for his family. In 1974, he left Rotan and came to work for Hardin Well Service in Raccoon Bend. He started out as a roughneck, and after two years became a tool pusher. In 1982, he was approached by two men that wanted him to go to work for them running fishing tools. He went to work for Homco International which eventually became Weatherford. He enjoyed running tools because each job was different, and enjoyed the challenge of problem solving. He made many good friends in the oilfield. He felt like this was his mission field and tried to always be a good example. In 2015, an opportunity became available and he started his own company, Cavern Tools. He enjoyed his work.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Bobbye Jo Hardin and Joe Allen Hardin, Sr., sister Jeanine Wharton, brother Joe Allen Hardin, Jr., mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Conway Waak, and sister-in-law Billie Schrader.
