Mrs. John Florini, Mother of Mayor, Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Mary (Rosasco) Florini, 76, of 10 Hodges Cross Road, mother of Mayor Francis C. Florini, died at 8:15 p.m. last night in North Adams Hospital, where she had been a patient for three days. Mrs. Florini had been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Florini was the widow of John Florini who started Florini's Restaurant in this city, now operated by a son, Joseph Florini. Her husband died 14 years ago.
Born in this city she was a daughter of the late Constant and Catherine (DeBarbieri) Rosasco. The Rosasco branch of the family includes Judge Ernest H. Rosasco, a former North Adams mayor, was the first Italian family to settle here. The late Capt. Giovanni Rosasco, a long time member of the North Adams Police Department, was her brother.
Mrs. Florini was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, the Christian Mothers of the Church and the Ladies Lodge of the Sons of Italy. As a girl she had attended the Mark Hopkins school.
Besides her sons, she leaves two daughters in North Adams, Mrs. Charles Carter and Mrs. Bernard Germanowski, with whom she made her home; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 with a Solemn High mass of Requiem in St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the Montagna Home for Funerals will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
