The son of James Calvin & Eliza Ann Hockett and was married to Elpharatia Viola "Freddie" Cline. "PHOTO BY MARILYN KEIM" THE NELSON GAZETTE, Thursday, July 28, 1932; pg.3---J.C. Denny (sic) was born in Lee county (sic), Iowa, in 1867 and died at Edgar, Nebraska, July 16, 1932. Came to Saline county (sic), Nebraska, at the age of sixteen. Married January 9, 1890, to Elpharttia (sic) Cline. Eleven children were born to this union. Two daughters preceded him in death Opal died in infancy and Mrs. Anna Warboys died 1931. Besides his wife the following children survive:Mrs. Viola Welstead, De Smet,S.D.;Mrs. Nora Searl and Mrs. Stella Welstead,Fremont;Mrs. Velma Van Kirk, Fairfield;Arthur and Lottie Hlavac,Deweese;Joe of Edgar;Edmund and Albert at home. Deceased lived on a farm nea(sic)Deweese from 1892 until 1928, when he moved to Edgar. He was a member of the M.E. church(sic) at Deweese and also a member of the M. W. A. at Edgar. Intement(sic) was at Edgar.
