Daykin banker and prominent citizen of this county was instantly killed Sunday evening, Christmas Day, between five and six o'clock on the state highway about three miles west of Beatrice. His wife was injured…His father, James C. Denney was a Quaker or Friends minister and died in Fairbury Jan 1, 1906… In 1918 Mr. Denney was married to Maude Tolleth Robb, who with his daughter, Evelyn, survive…In 1900 he entered the Jefferson County bank at Daykin as a clerk and when he died he was cashier and principal stockholder…Services were at Fairbury Methodist church and burial in Fairbury cemetery. Pallbearers, etc., were all Fairbury people including Dr. Harry Potter who was among the singers at the funeral of the first Mrs. Denney.

Daykin Banker Is Victim of Highway Crash
FAILED TO SEE SIGNAL
Frank W. Denney, banker at Daykin. Nebr., was instantly killed Sunday evening shortly before 6 o'clock and his wife injured when their car struck a cement culvert three miles west of this city at the foot of a steep hill on the Goldenrod highway and turned over. Mr. Denney was caught n the front part of his car and his head crushed. Mrs. Denney was thrown some distance from the machine. She was taken to a local hospital, and was reported considerably improved Tuesday. Her injuries are not serious. The body of Mr. Denney was removed to the Richardson undertaking parlors at Fairbury.
Mr. and Mrs. Denney were enroute to this city to take some guests to Fairbury for Christmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hardy there when the fatal crash occurred.
County Attorney H. F. Mattoon and Sheriff Sailing were called to the scene of the accident and made a hurried investigation. It is said that lights from an approaching machine blinded Mr. Denney and caused him to drive into the obstruction. Mr. Mattoon says he will hold an inquest to place the responsibility for the accident.
Prominent Citizen
Mr. Denney was fifty-seven years of age and is survived by one daughter, Evelyn. He was a brother of Attorney C. H. Denney of Fairbury and an uncle of County Attorney Arthur Denney of Jefferson county.
He had been cashier of the Jefferson County bank at Daykin for about thirty years. He had served as president of the Daykin school board, and was financially interested in the Daykin lumber yard and other business enterprises of the town. He was a member of the Jefferson fair board.
