Irene Massey, 90, of Fosterville, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at her residence after a long illness.
Born March 21, 1914 in Kanawha County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Josephine Massey. Irene was a housewife and a member of the Church of God, Seth, W.Va. for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Massey, 1960; five brothers, Elvin, Robert, Sidney, Kermit, and Arthur Massey; one sister, Thursie Oxley; two half-brothers, Virgil and Curtis Eskins; one half-sister, Hallie Adkins; and one daughter, Mildred Herron Massey.
She is survived by three sons, Randall Massey of Charleston, Frederick Massey and his wife, Karen of Orgas, John M. Chapman Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Round Hill, Va.; one great-grandson, Fred Massey Jr. and his wife, Tara, of Fosterville; two great-great-granddaughters, Courtney and Ashley Massey of Fosterville; and caregiver, Betty Adkins of Comfort.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 4 at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesville, with Rev. David Minturn officiating. Interment was at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas.
