Cecil Dent Moore, age 92, of Mesquite, TX, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. He was born June 5, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Cecil Elwood Moore and June Lindsey Moore.
Cecil grew up in Wilmette, IL. He attended HS in Beardstown, IL, where he was very active in baseball and football. After receiving a football scholarship, he attended Illinois State Normal College, where he ended up giving more attention to his academics and played tennis. He moved to Texas with his parents in 1953. About a year later he met Dorothy Johnson and they married in 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Lewisville, TX.
Cecil worked for Employers Casualty Insurance company for many years. While there he received his CPCU Certification and License from SMU. Later he worked Marshall McClendon Insurance Agency for many years, where he retired. About a year after retirement, he was convinced by a friend to join the team at Glen Madden Insurance Agency as a marketing representative. There he was responsible for the Half-Price Books account. He retired at age 85.
One of Cecil's greatest joys was playing golf with his favorite foursome as much as possible. His love for golf was transferred to his children. He loved walking around his home, enjoying breakfast at McDonalds and walking at the mall.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elwood, Harold, Roger, Richard and infant brother Dean; sisters, Betty & Jean.
