Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Core Spell, 68, of the Plain View Community passed away Monday evening October 5, 2020 at her home.

Carolyn was born August 15, 1952 in Harnett County daughter of the late Ernie B. and Annie Buie Core. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Alton, Jack, Earl and Charles Core and her sister, Louise Core.

She was a 1970 graduate of Erwin High School.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Bethesda Friends Meeting in Dunn with Rev. Jonathan Cook and Rev. Allen Gupton. Burial will follow at Lee’s Chapel/Williford Cemetery. If you are uncomfortable with attending the service in the church, we invite you to listen to it via radio 92.7 in the parking lot of Bethesda Friends Meeting.

Carolyn was a dedicated worker and spent 20 years at Block Industries shirt factory and 20 years at Carolina Precast Concrete.

As a boy mom, Carolyn spent many nights and weekends cheering for her sons and their teams at their many baseball games. She was a Raider Band Mom to her 2 kids and many more throughout the years. As Nana, she supported her 5 grandchildren in their many sports games, dance recitals, award ceremonies and other activities they were involved in.

Carolyn enjoyed many years of living the “lake life” with her husband and boys camping at Kerr Lake, White Lake, and Lake Royale. She and Crafton also loved taking cruises and went on 21 cruises in a 15 year time span but spent the last couple of years on dry land traveling to different campsites with their RV.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Crafton Spell; sons, Kevin and partner Lee of Wilmington; Kyle and wife Donna of Autryville; five grandchildren, Drake, Kylie, Wyatt, Christian, and Carter and one great grandchild, Ella and sister, Annie Ruth Core Matthews of Erwin.

The family will receive friends 2 – 3 p.m. Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Plain View Fire Department, 5041 Plain View Hwy. Dunn, N.C. 28334.

Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
