Roberto Nerio Duran passed away Sept. 22, 2020 [probably in Fayetteville, Ark.*]. He was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Izalco, Sonsonate, El Salvador, to Sebastian Nerio and Encarnacion Duran. He married Marta Goria [Gloria] Aragon in 1966 in Santa Ana, El Salvador.

Roberto worked as a clothing tailor in El Salvador and at FreshJive Company in Los Angeles, Calif. After migrating to the US in the late 1980s he became a US citizen and fulfilled many of the American dream milestones. After moving to NW Ark. in late 2004 he worked at Tyson Chicken in Noel, Mo. for nine years until retirement.

Roberto was involved in Asambleas de Dios churches in El Salvador and in the US where he often held the role of deacon.

Mr. Duran was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marta Gloria Aragon de Duran, siblings Rodolfo Duran, Maria Julia Duran, and Tina Duran, and "fur" grandchildren Chumelo and Snickerdoodles Galdamez. Mr. Duran is survived by his daughters, Nidia Deysi Galdamez (Jose Ernesto) of Siloam Springs, Ark. and Sinia Margarita Galdamez (Angel) of Gaithersbur[g] MD., and a sister, Angela Duran San Julian of Sonsonate, El Salvador. Also surviving are six grandchildren, one granddog, and four great-grandchildren. He was a father-figure to Ana Diaz, Violeta M. Diaz Duran, Vilma Gutierrez, and Blanca Dura.

Visitation will be 5-10 pm Fri., Oct. 2, 2020 at Centro Cristiano Aliento De Vida, 636 E. 1st St., Gentry, Ark. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Sat., Oct. 3, 2020 at the church and officiated by Luis Arenas. Burial will follow at 4 pm at Gentry [Ark.] City Cemetery.
