Mrs. Amanda Bailey Dead.
Aunt Amanda C. Bailey died at her residence in south Narrows township Sunday of pneumonia. Mrs. Bailey was the wife of Austin Bailey and the daughter of Uncle Jonathan Powell, an early settler of Macon county. She was born in Kentucky February 17, 1833 and came with her parents to Missouri when only eight years old. She was married to Mr. Bailey when only 15 years old and they lived a happy and peaceful life, her husband now being 77 years old. She was the mother of eight children six of whom are living. Mrs. Sallie Esry of Moberly, Mrs. Ann Esry of Excello, Mrs. Amelia Leath of Narrows township, Mrs. Mollie Brown of Jacksonville, Mrs. Nancy Vanskike of Ardmore and Elijah Bailey of Randolph county. She professed religion in early life but was not identified with any church at the time of her death. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at her home by Rev. M. L. Heifner, after which the remains were interred in the Powell cemetery.
