She became an international success in the 1970s and placed 15 singles in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She had six top 10 hits, including "I Am Woman," which appeared on her debut album "I Don't Know How to Love Him" in 1971. It was released as a single in 1972 and became a number one hit. Two other singles reached number one, "Delta Dawn" and "Angie Baby." She also appeared in the film "Airport 1975", singing "Best Friend," a song she had written.
