Son of Hugh and Sarah Alcorn McCormick.
His father purchased a large 1300 acres of land in White Deer Valley in 1771 and Seth and his brother Thomas, settle on South Creek in 1775. South Creek was a branch of White Hole Creek which was 3 miles from its mouth.

On July 6, 1774, Seth purchased 317 acres Chillisquaque Creek & 40 acres small Spring for five pounds sterling per hundred Acre. Source: Land Acquisitions & Survey, PA warrants & applications 1733-1952.
Later in April 1831, he purchased 227 acres in Lycoming County, where his wife and family made their home in Washington township. (Egle).

Seth served Aug 1776, as a volunteer in American Revolution, under Capt Seifer of Cumberland County. He also served at various times, as a wagoneer, delivering goods and clothing to the Army, in lower parts of Virginia and various areas of Pennsylvania.
After his death in July, 1852 his son Samuel, filed for his pension benefits and the application was later rejected. Simply stated on rejection document;, exclusive of his service as teamster, he was on duty but four months. His case was No. 10,546, signed by Sevin Belt, examining clerk. Included in these documents were several handwritten notes and timelines of Seth's efforts in war time. These records were microfilmed in the National Achieves. PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor #: A131259.

Seth married to Margaret Simmons in 1781, Their wedding ceremony held on father Hugh's property (deceased) where the cabin was located on White Deer Hole Creek. Source: Egle p. 35-36, and Historical Sketches, Part 16.

Their ten children are linked to this memorial, with the exception of Hugh McCormick b. 1795 d. his death occured abt. 1730, he was possibly single and his burial location is unknown.

Seth and his wife Margaret, are both buried in the Historic Stone Presbyterian Church Cemetery, today known as Christ Lutheran Stone Church Cemetery. It is one of the oldest in country and once settled as Washington County by Scottish Irish Presbyterians. History of Lycoming County, by J.F. Meginness, 1892. He is buried on the southwest side of Penny Hill, which overlooks Buffalo Valley.
