She was one of fourteen children born to Joel Benjamin Quattlebaum andJulia Ella Coleman. She was educated in the Atlanta Public School System, later studying at Georgia State University, DeKalb College and Mercer University. She married Olen Leland Harris of Lineville, AL on January 31, 1945. She entered YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) work in 1952. In 1967 she received her certification as Senior Director. She worked on the National YMCA Staff in the International Department, Program Department, and was Director of Administration when she retired March 1, 1990, ending a 38 year career. She expressed her interest in genealogy by compiling the ancestry of her Coleman, Scurry, Quattlebaum, and Hurt heritage as well as the Harris and Rains history. She was a member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA, and was a former member of Sylvan Hills Baptist church where she sang in the choir for 20 years and taught Sunday school for more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Leland; brothers, James William Quattlebaum (Louise), Coleman Randolph Quattlebaum (Frances), John Edwin Quattlebaum (Doris), Harvey O Quattlebaum (Marlene), Joe Ben Quattlebaum (Virginia), Alfred Dwight Quattlebaum; and her sisters, Mildred Seydell Evans and Vera Annette Oliver (George); and, Charles Lovern and Jim Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Margie Lee Landers (James Larry Landers, deceased); sons, Olen Benjamin Harris (Lucy Morgan Harris) and Edwin Leland Harris (Amy Dewberry Harris); grandchildren, Julie Anne Smith, James Clayton Landers (Elizabeth Oliver Landers), Shellie Harris McGraw (Joedy McGraw), Penny Harris Soles (Butch Soles) and Natalie Benae Harris; great-grandchildren, Megan Smith, Madison Smith, Daylee McGraw, Josie McGraw, Savannah Soles, Harrison Soles, Macy Pitts, Catherine Landers and Emma Landers; brothers, Elliott Rhamey Quattlebaum (Charlotte) and Irvin Hurt Quattlebaum (Gloria); sisters, Joyce Estelle Lovern, Sybil Ramona Wilson, and Julia Maxine McLean (Lawrence); also, Fred Evans and Carol Quattlebaum.
