Mr. John was born May 28, 1938, in Jackson County to the late Green and Iona Grice Baxter. A certified diesel mechanic, he retired from Golden Peanut and a retired groundskeeper for Mr. Wallace Malone. Mr. John loved spending time with his family and fishing.
A Celebration of His Life will 11 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2020, at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with Revs. Addis Habbard and Luther Pumphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch AOG of Cemetery, Grangerburg, AL with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends on Monday, 10 a.m., until the time of service.
Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers William Baxter, Tom Baxter, and one sister Stella Burk.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Louise Baxter; one son Johnny Baxter, one daughter Deborah Whitehead; two brothers Seborn Baxter, Alex Baxter; three sisters Becky Stephens, Pearlie Noble, Eldridge Sims; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
