Mrs. Katherine Floyd Chambers, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at a Lafayette healthcare facility.

Mrs. Chambers was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on August 25, 1938, daughter of the late Vinnie Floyd and the late Mildred Baldwin Floyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George F. Chambers, by four brothers, Daniel, Wilburn, Edward and Miron Floyd, and by two sisters, Helen Williams and Linda Gail Floyd. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Eden Valley Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she worked in the textile industry at Galey & Lord, Dillinger’s and lastly at Mohawk.

Survivors include 3 children, Randall E. “Randy” Chambers (Sherryl), George R. Chambers (Linda), and Susan R. Rogers; 3 grandchildren, Randall O. Chambers, Danielle Crocker (Jared) and Evan Jones; 5 great grandchildren, Jeffery Jackson, Conner Jackson, Sammie Jo Crocker, Chloey Jones and Dakota Jones; 2 brothers, Carroll & Billy Wayne Floyd; 2 sisters, Dot Craddock and Wanda Jane Wilson; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Lester officiating. Interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery. Social distancing measures will be followed, and mask are requested.

Mrs. Chambers will lie in state at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 2pm until 2:45pm. Social distancing measures will be followed, and masks are requested.
