His funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Jester-Stanley Funeral Home in Andes. Rev. R.V.E. Wright, pastor emeritus of the Andes United Presbyterian Chruch, officiated. Burial is in Andes Cemetery.
Mr Beers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Godfrey Beers, six sons, John Beers of Arkville, Carl Beers Jr., of Andes, Richard Beers of Margaretville, Robert Beers of Downsville, Donald Beers of Franklin, and Terry Beers of Andes; eight daughters, Mrs. Shirley Balcom of Andes, Mrs. Barbara Hopkins of Santa Rosa, CA, Mrs. Betty Weed of Elmira, Mrs. Jane Soderback of Andes, Mrs. Cheryl Stratton of Margaretville, Mrs. Rose Brock of Roscoe, Judy Beers of Fleischmanns, and Debra Beers of Starrucca, PA. Also surviving are 38 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Beers was a native of Redding Ct, born Jan 9, 1899, to James L and Rosa (Schultz) Beers. He had come to Andes in 1946 and had had a farm on Dingle Hill for most of those years.
