Karen G. Hartman, 71, of North Charleroi, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian. She was born in North Charleroi on April 28, 1949, the daughter of Raymond and Audrey Hall McCrory. Karen was a graduate of Charleroi High School and Duff’s Business Institute. Before her retirement, she worked for Span & Taylor and Pir Rx. She was a member of First Christian Church in Fallowfield Towhship, was a former member of the Charleroi PTA, the Girl Scouts as a child, then as a leader with her daughters. She was a member of the Mon Valley Chapter of the Air Force Association and volunteered with vacation Bible school and for church activities. Karen was part of the Candy Striper Baton Corps and was a marching mom for the Mon Valley Super Stars. She loved watching Sean Jr. play football in high school and college. With Kyrsten, it was twirling flags and art projects, Breanna it was twirling flags, Sydney was cheering, acting and singing on stage and she enjoyed watching and playing wrestlers with Reed. On Oct. 10, 1970, she married Dennis Hartman, and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next month. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Sean Cole of North Charleroi, and Karie and Patrick Kolodychak of North Charleroi; and five grandchildren, Sean Jr., Kyrsten and Sydney Cole, Breanna Hartman and Reed Kolodychak. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, with the Rev. Charles Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Carroll Township. The family requests that memorials in memory of Karen be made to First Christian Church. Due to the Covid-19 state mandate, masks are required while attending visitation and funeral services. Also be mindful of social distancing and your length of time in the funeral home.
