Obituary for Virginia Ruth Howard
Virginia Ruth Howard, of Gautier, MS, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 21, 2020, in Ocean Springs, MS.
She was born October 22, 1941 in Maxie , MS., to Elmer Walker and Vivian Strickland Walker.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Vardaman Howard, and a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many others. She was waiting with great anticipation on the birth of her first great-grandson, Emmett Fitzgerald Rigby, and also the marriage of her second granddaughter, Kendall Howard to Chad Carlson.
Virginia enjoyed volunteering with various community services such as, The American Red Cross, Jackson County Fair, and many others. She blessed so many friends with her delicious cooking, sharing her cake decorating skills, and flower arranging.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ed Johnston, 2 sisters, Louise Barnett and Barbara Clark. 3 brothers, Stanley Walker, Kenneth Walker, and James Walker.
Survivors include her children and their spouses; Van (Deb) Howard, Vickie Nevels, and Vince (Michele) Howard. 5 grandchildren, Brian Nevels, Christopher (Jessy) Howard, Mandi (Brad) Rigby, Kendall Howard, and Ethan Howard. One great-grandchild, Jamie Paventy.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2020, from 10 a.m. untill 11 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS. The Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with her son, Van Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Ocean Springs, MS.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks and social distancing are required.
