MANSFIELD: Opal M. Shafer, 95, of Mansfield, Ohio died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
Born November 15, 1914 in Paradise Hill, she was the daughter of Albert and Ethel (Totman) Au. She worked at Westinghouse for 10 years. A member of Jubilee Pentecostal Church, Opal enjoyed crocheting, spending time at home, gardening, and yard work. She drove "Powder Puff" race cars at Mansfield Raceway.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Ferguson of Florida, and John Ferguson of Ontario; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil J. Shafer; daughter, Loretta First; four brothers; and four sisters.
