PATRICIA M. “Patti” STEELE-OLIVER

Born in Robinson, IL on August 20, 1947. Daughter of Robert Fulton Steele and Wilma Jean (Moore) Constatin. She died on September 19, 2020. Preceding her in death were: Mother, Wilma Jean (Moore) Steele Constatin, great grandfather ‘Dode’ Reed, great grandparents; Eugene and Lola Moore and grandparents, Ralph and Dale Steele, two aunts, Maxine and Sarah, four uncles, Richard, Ronald and Robert Moore and Eugene Reed Steele. Her father Robert F. (Bob) Steele.

Survivors include: four sisters and husbands, Tami Steele and Jim Cutright, Karen and Jeff Neer, Randi and Mike Kelsheimer and Melissa and John Loughery. Two brothers and one sister-in-law: Kevin and Sue Steele and Bryan Steele.

Patti started working at 15 at the Dari Mart as a carhop. She continued working for Ott and Norma Mutchmore at the Tic Toc Café. At 18, she went to Bloomington, IL to beauty school. Finished her training under Bea Thompson at Woodworth Hotel. She then worked at Barn Plaza until it sold. She worked for Velma Boyles and Ava Seaney until she starte4d out on her own. She owned and operated “The Hairbender Salon” for 17 years. Again, worked for Mrs. Boyles until her death. She then worked for Doris Caywood at DA Style Center. Worked out of her home until health caused retirement. A wonderful 40 years and three generations of clients. She was secretary and treasurer for Robinson Hairdressers Association. She was president of Women’s Bowling League and Secretary and Treasurer of Mixed Bowling League many years. She loved books, movies, dancing, fishing, gardening, music, class reunions, cats and her family. She believed in science and the pursuit of life saving exploration. She believed in the exploration of space – the final frontier. She believed in education and had high respect for those who taught. She always wanted to be a teacher. She felt she did teach in her profession. Lessons on life.

She was an organ donor. Having no children of her own, she loved her sisters, brothers and her special nephews and nieces. And her great nephews and one special great niece.

During her professional career, she was a color and perm technician for Bonat Professional Salon Products Company working with National Hairdressers Association Professional Teachers on Platform Classes. She taught at Grand Rapids, Michigan, Evansville, Indiana and Indianapolis, Indiana State Convention. She also competed in completions in coloring; winning ‘Championship’ trophy sponsored by Wella Corp. Modelling for Patti were the beautiful women, Jerri Lynn Sanders Wright and Diane Opiela Peach (Pee-ak) in Chicago at Midwest Beauty and Trade Show. She also was a model herself in Chicago, Paducah, Kentucky, Paris, Tennessee, Evansville, IN and St. Louis, MO. She loved her profession and all that it gave her. Friends for Life, Laughter, Joy, Compassion and the great education of life.

A celebration of life service will be announced and held later in the week.
