Duluth News Tribune obituary and family links will feed over when memorials are merged.Patricia Ann Hantz Armstrong, 71 of Duluth, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at home from the effects of cancer. She was born in Duluth on May 27, 1936 to Sam and Mary (Kriske) Hantz.

Pat combined her job of bookkeeper and successful role of mother and homemaker until age 42 when she was struck down with a brain aneurysm that robbed her of her communication skills and left her paralyzed on the right side. With stubborn determination and a positive attitude, she overcame most of her handicaps, and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Victoria; and brother, Thomas.

Pat is survived by her husband of 51 years, James "Jim"; daughters, Sherri of Duluth and Sandra (David) Runck of Eagan; sons, Steve, Shawn and Patrick 'Tony', all of Duluth; sisters, Virginia Labud and Lucille Hantz of Duluth and Gloria Jean McGonnigle of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; brother, Richard Hantz of Cloquet; five grandchildren, Steven, Sarah, Seth and Christopher of Duluth and Jessica Alexander of Eagan; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Loney, Michael and Amelia Knudson, and Ava and Allyson Armstrong.

The family is especially appreciative to the skilled and thoughtful care provided by the St. Luke's Hospice staff and especially Wendy Ankrum, Valerie Olson and Stephanie Marshall for the thoughtful care given to her.
