James and Jessie Fulks worked aboard the tugboat G.W. McBride. He was a firemen and she was a 2nd cook. On Feb. 22, 1942 the tugboat was swept against a bridge pier and sank. They recovered the body of Jessie on Feb. 24. An article dated March 7, 1942 stated they had yet to recover the body of James. The West Virginia Wills and Probate record states that a case was opened on their behalf in 1943. It also states it was settled on behalf of their young children in 1944. The WWII Draft Card for James Fulks has a notation that he deceased in March of 1943. Have yet to find any death certificate or obituary regarding James Fulks.
