Andrew emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1844 (according to the 1901 census). He married Margaretha Lang on March 21, 1848, in Greenbush (now a part of Kitchener, Ontario). The couple resided in Woolwich Township on their farm north of Erbsville (Lot 62, German Company Tract). Their known children were:

  • George (1849-1898)
  • John (1851-1911)
  • Katharina "Catherine" (1854-1893)

  • Elisabetha "Elisabeth" (1859-1883)
  • Valentine (1862-1901)
  • Theodore (1873-1940)

Margaret died in December 1873, four months after the birth of son Theodore. Andrew lived almost 30 more years after his wife's death, passing away 26 days before his 83rd birthday.
