James Madison Seaton was born in Greene County, Tennessee (east Tennessee). Between 1840 and 1850, he moved his family including adult children and their children, to Franklin County, Missouri. His oldest child, Anderson Seaton, was the only one who remained to manage the farm in Sevier County, Tennessee.
