Solomon S. Seaton was born July 21, 1806, in Chuckey, Tennessee (Greene County), the son of Benjamin Seaton and Mary Elizabeth Bird.

On May 11, 1831 in Tennessee, Solomon married Mariah Trotter, daughter of John Trotter and Asa White.

Solomon and Mariah ultimately would have 9 known children: Reverend John Russom Seaton, William Alexander Seaton, Elizabeth (Carrie) Seaton, Thomas Fletcher Seaton, James Wesley Seaton, Benjamin H. Seaton, Margaret Jane Seaton, Isabella (Belle) Seaton, and Asa Caroline (Carrie) Seaton.

Solomon and Mariah moved from Greene County, Tennessee, to Nashville, Tennessee, then to Davies county, Missouri in June 1842, traveling in a covered wagon. In 1844, they moved to Lathrop, Missouri (Clinton County), where they settled (see article from Kansas City Journal Post, 1930.)

In 1850, Solomon, age 44, and Mariah, age 38, were living in Green, Missouri (Platte County) with eight children: John Seaton, age 18; William Seaton, age 16; Elizabeth Seaton, age 15; Thomas F. Seaton, age 12; James Seaton, age 11; Benjamin, age 9; Margaret, age 7; and Isabelle, age 2.

Solomon died on October 10, 1898, in Turney, Missouri (Clinton County) and was buried in the Deer Creek Cemetery in Lathrop, Missouri (Clinton County). Mariah died on June 16, 1899, in Turney, Missouri and was buried beside her husband.
