Dennis Eugene Mayer, age 64 of Nebraska City died October 7, 2019 at his home. Dennis was born February 17, 1955 in Fairbury, the son of Verlin and Gertrude (Schroeder) Mayer. Dennis grew up Washington, KS and was a 1973 graduate of Washington High School. He graduated from the University of Kansas with an engineering degree. Dennis formerly worked at various power plants, including Cooper Nuclear Plant in Brownville. Other power plants he worked at were in Columbia, SC, Clarksville, TN, Fort Worth, TX. Dennis returned to Nebraska City three years ago.
Dennis had a love for animals, photography and music. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nebraska City where he served as an Elder.
Survivors include his daughters, Maddy Woods and husband Jared of Commerce City, CO and Hannah Mayer of San Francisco, CA; brothers and sisters, Marilyn Dach and husband Pete of Pagosa Springs, CO, Pat Heser, Jim Mayer and Robert Mayer, all of Lincoln; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
