A retired equipment operator for the Louisiana Department of Transportation, he died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at his residence in Erwinville. He was 76 and a native of Erwinville. Visiting was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the church from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Gregory Daigle. Interment in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Velma David St. Romain of Erwinville; two daughters, Kathleen David of Oscar and Linda Daigle of Erwinville; a sister, Beulah Saizan of New Roads; three grandchildren, Bryan Daigle, Mindy Daigle and Bobby David; and a great-grandchild, Hannah Daigle. Preceded in death by his father, Edmond St. Romain Sr.; mother, Melodie Guerin St. Romain; two brothers, Richard and Wilfred St. Romain; and three sisters, Ivy Lee Ballard, Bertha David and Pricilla David. Pallbearers will be Bobby David, Bryan Daigle, Leo Daigle, Michael Lejeune, Wilfred St. Romain Jr. and R.J. Bourque. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Dupre and Barry Wilkinson. He retired in May 1978 from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development after 30 years of service as an equipment operator. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Niland's Funeral Service Inc., New Roads, in charge of arrangements.
