Janet Lee Shenk, 87, of Luray, passed away on September 14, 2020.

She was born on June 17, 1933, to the late James Carter and Anna Rosetta Aleshire.

Mrs. Shenk spent her life heavily involved with many community organizations and volunteered countless hours with the American Red Cross, American Lung Association, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Association. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club, Luray Garden Club, Luray Women's Club and the Extension Homemakers on a county and state level. She served on the Page Memorial Hospital Board for 12 years and was chosen as Citizen of the Year for Page County some years ago.

One June 30, 1951, she married Kirby Lee Shenk, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Michael Shenk and wife Tammy, and a daughter-in-law, Lynette Shenk. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Garrett Moyer and wife Emily, Samantha Dean and husband Blake, and Danielle and Corey Shenk, all of Luray; and four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Layna and Levi Moyer, and Tate Dean. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Shenk; and seven siblings, Carl, Howard, Mamie, May, Nell, Harry and Robert.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray by Pastor Josh Parlett.
