Cynthia Diane Floyd, 56, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020. Diane was born August 26, 1964 to Melvin C. Menking and Janice Baker Menking. She married David Allen Floyd, Sr. on November 10, 1984 in Gonzales. Diane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gonzales.

Diane grew up on the family ranch south of Gonzales. She was country girl who loved hunting and fishing with her daddy. She could field dress a deer faster than most men and enjoyed processing the venison. She bottle fed many of the dairy calves the family purchased and never shirked any of her chores around the ranch.

Diane attend school in Gonzales and graduated with the Class of 1982. She worked at the Cake Emporium in Gonzales making, decorating, and delivering cakes and then worked as a bookkeeper for Bruce Baker Poultry Farms for nearly 5 years. Diane enjoyed working for Purina Mills Land O Lakes in customer services for 26 years.

Diane was a strong, yet compassionate people person. She cherished her faith and loved the Lord. She found peace in watching hummingbirds at her feeder, working puzzles, hunting deer and fishing. She was very family-oriented and dearly loved to surround herself with family and friends.

Diane is survived by her adoring family, husband, David Allen Floyd, mother, Janice Menking both of Gonzales, daughter and son-law, Jennifer Lynn and Joel Fohn of Pleasanton, sons and daughters-in-law, David Allen Floyd, Jr. and Jennifer of Shiner, Derek Paul and Elizabeth of Albuquerque, NM., brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Sarah Menking of Gonzales and a host of grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers: Derek Floyd, Angel Perez, John Falks, Tim Faltisek, Josh Fohn and Joel Fohn. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, the MS Society or charity of one’s choice.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, chapel service and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend.
