LOCKHART – In hospital, Almonte, Ontario, on Saturday, September 14, 1974, Archie Cecil Lockhart, beloved husband of Margaret Lindsay. Dear father of Donald, dear grandfather of Heather, dear son of Mrs Arthur Lockhart, dear brother of J. Mel Lockhart, Almonte, and Hilda (Mrs Keith Jackson), Bowmanville. In his 56th year. Rested at the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte, where the funeral service was held on Monday at 2 p.m. Rev Robt McCrea officiated. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

Local Businessman Archie Lockhart Dies Suddenly
A well known area businessman, Archie Lockhart, proprietor of Lindsay Farm Equipment in Almonte passed away suddenly in Almonte General Hospital on Saturday, September 14th, 1974. Mr Lockhart had suffered from a heart condition for some time. He was 55 years of age. Born in Almonte on October 3rd, 1918, the son of the late Arthur Lockhart and Lyla Bennett, who survives, he was educated in local schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. On May 23rd, 1942, he married the former Margaret Lindsay at Almonte United Church. Well known in the agricultural field throughout the area, Mr Lockhart was associated with the farm equipment business for over 30 years during which time he worked with Mr John Lindsay finally taking over the business in 1963. For many years he was an active member of the Almonte Curling Club and was an avid competitor until the local rink burned down a few years ago. Besides his wife, Margaret, he is survived by a son, Donald, one brother, Mel, of Almonte and a sister, Hilda (Mrs Keith Jackson), of Bowmanville. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Heather. Funeral services for Mr Lockhart were held from the Kerry Funeral Home to Auld Kirk Cemetery for interment on Monday, September 16. Rev Robt J McCrea conducted the services. Pallbearers were Brian Jackson, Arthur Jackson, Wayne Lockhart, Ronald Lindsay, David Drummond and Gilmour Drummond.
