Joy Avinell Wheeler, 85, of Pleasant Plains died September 10, 2020. Burial will be at Putman Cemetery.

Joy was born on October 8, 1934, in Floral, Arkansas, to the late Millard and Helen (Wilf) Burress. Avinell was a member of the Independence Missionary Baptist Church. She was a foster grandparent at Midland Elementary School. Her hobbies included gardening and bingo and she loved her family very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Wheeler; and brother, Buddy Burress.

Survivors include her sons, Ronnie Wheeler and his wife, Karen, of Newark, Arkansas, and Gary Wheeler and his wife, Carolyn, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; daughter, Sondra Grider and her husband, James, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; grandchildren: Dusty Wheeler, Drew Wheeler, Tara Dull, Bani' Meharg, Shane Martin, Jammie Cox, Chelsea Brackett, and Jarrod Grider; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Coots, of Alexander, Arkansas, Hattie Sue Lanier and her husband, Tommy, of Bryan, Texas, and Ina Ruth Reed, of Concord, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
