James "Buddy" Burress, 67, of Batesville died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

He was born February 9, 1939 in Floral, Arkansas the son of Millard Burress and Helen (Wilf) Burress.

He and Annette Pearson were married on April 14, 1956. He was an electrician at Lanier's and Townsends for 35 years. He owned and operated a cattle farm. He loved to duck hunt, play golf, and the internet. He was a family man; very generous with his family; and strong. He was a member of the Floral Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Annette (Pearson) Burress of Batesville; two sons, Greg Burress and Lance Burress of Batesville; two daughters, Debbie Jones and Jackie Cooper of Floral; four sisters, Avinelle Wheeler of Pleasant Plains, Betty Coots of Little Rock, Hattie Sue Lanier of Bryan, Texas, and Ina Reed of Concord; seven grandchildren; Stephanie Roberts, Angie Riley, Keith Burress, Zack Cooper, Megan Cooper, Savannah Burress, and Pearson Burress; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Grant Roberts and Allison Riley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Jason Jones.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Wheeler, Gary Wheeler, Mitchell Reed, Michael Reed, Tim Coots, Doug Wilson, Brandon Emmons, and Jacob Wood; honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Gould, Howard Combs, and Dick Coots.

Funeral services will be at the Floral Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 officiated by Bro. Joe Jackson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM, Monday, April 10, 2006.

Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery at Floral under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
