George T. Algiere, 79, of 193 Shore Road, Westerly, husband of Elizabeth (Turano) Algiere, died Aug. 24, 2001, at the Westerly Health Center.
Born April 23, 1922, in Westerly, he was the son of the late Dominic and Bomina (Gabrielle) Algiere.
He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, and he was the national director of engineering services at Ramada Inns, Inc., until his retirement in 1987.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Algiere is survived by two sons, Steven T. Algiere of Westerly and Robert G. Algiere of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Georgia Blake of Weston, Mass., and Patrica J. Algiere of Westerly; four brothers, Ernest, William and Frank Algiere, all of Bradford, R.I., and Louis Algiere of Westerly; one sister, Josephine Turano of Bradford, R.I.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Bradford, R.I.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 275 Westminster St., Providence, RI 02903, or to the American Diabetes Association.
